What We Can Do For You

We provide a written comment on the heritage value of your property and your proposed intervention. This can assist you or your designer in making heritage-sensitive design decisions. This comment (along with neighbours’ signatures) also satisfies the public consultation section of the PHRA application form.

For us to be able to make comments, you need to provide the following:

  1. PHRA Application Form
  2. Architectural Drawings of the proposed work
  3. Details of the proposal
  4. Photographs of the property
  5. Short motivation for the action
  6. We may request a site visit (This is generally preferred for demolitions)

We have a small ‘comments committee’ that information is circulated to. Comments are prepared in consultation with a local Heritage Practitioner, local Professional Architects and other interested parties. After consultation, comments are prepared for your application. This is communicated in a formal letter that can be attached to your application to the Provincial Heritage Resource Authority or the NMBM, depending on your preferences.

Administration Fee

We have been providing this service for many years and prepared many written comments.

On 05 September 2014 it was agreed that the MBHT would charge an administration fee of R500,00 per written comment, payable to the MBHT Account.
